Disneyland

We decided, at the last minute, to take a trip to Disneyland. It was pretty crowded but all in all, we had a really good time and the boys were pretty well behaved. It’s amazing how much their demeanor plays into the outcome of our day. We re-newed our Disney passes…..so, if anyone wants to go, let us know!

I’ve been pretty busy doing my Stampin’ Up stuff. I have 2 classes scheduled for October. I have so much fun with this stuff. It’s also a nice outlet for me and it allows me time to spend “with me.” Chuck put up my Peg Board and it looks great. I’ve hung my sticker packets on it. I had no idea how many I had. Scary! For those of you who don’t know, I also have a blog dedicated to my papercrafting hobby. If you ever want to visit it, here is the link: http://stampinness.blogspot.com/

The boys are both in Preschool and they are having a great time. Cody was a little hesitant at first but he is slowly going along with the program. I always ask them what they did at school and the common response is…..”nothing, we just played.” Pretty funny kids!

Candy on the Stove

Candy on the stovetop

Candy on the stovetop

This morning, Chuck made special pancakes for the boys. They were shapped like Mickey Mouse and he used whip cream and chocolate chips for the decorations. The boys absolutely Loved them! What a great Dad!

We went to a friends B-day party yesterday (Andrew C. turned 3yrs old!) and the boys collected candy from the Pinata. The candy has kept the boys busy all morning. They have played Hide and Seek with the candy and they have also pretended to cook the candy on their pretend stove top. A photo is attached. Funny kids with a great imagination.

Ness and the boys

We all had a great summer in 2009. The boys start preschool tomorrow and we are all very excited. We went to an open house last week and got to meet their new teachers. The boys are going to have so much fun. Cody is very excited and you can tell he is starting to feel like a “Big Boy” now.

Pretty Nice Savings

Hey…….yea…it’s been a while since I’ve posted anything to the blog. It’s been a very busy and enjoyable summer. I will add more entries later but for now…..just wanted to let you know what kind of savings are out there for you. My dear friend, Christy, turned me on to this blog that gives you great ideas on how to save money by using coupons, rebates, etc.

I went to Rite-Aid and Walgreens and spent $29.09 and got lots of stuff. The money spent, includes the $16 rebate I will be getting from Rite-Aid. I bought lots of Johnson and Johnson Baby products, since I am attending a baby shower in the near future.  Rite-Aid also had their kids summer toys at 75% off. Since we have a few kids B-day parties this month, I figured the items would come in handy. There is a package of Keebler cookies missing (We already dug into those). I’ve attached a photo off all the stuff I bought. Christy, Thank You for turning me onto the site (http://hip2save.blogspot.com/). According to my receipts, the money I saved (including the rebate) was $65.61.

The New Boat is Here!

We are all so excited! We spent 4 days on the boat (1968 Columbia 36′), after Chuck, my Dad and Chuck’s friend (Jerry) sailed it from Marina Del Rey to Chula Vista (San Diego Co.). The Marina was awesome. They had activities every day we were there. Saturday we hung out and enjoyed free Hot Dogs, Popcorn, Slushies and the kids played on the large obstacle course bouncy. They had a kid craft every day and we hung out by the pool. There was also a small Gym at the Marina (which we have not used yet but I’m sure we will). We also got to hang out with my parents, who also have a boat on the same Gangway. Too  cool! My parents were so sweet. They took the boys for a few hours on Saturday so Chuck and I could relax. We took the new sailboat out for a couple of hours on one of the days and the boys really enjoyed it. We are looking forward to many more relaxing and fun days at the boat.

We got veggies!

First Pickin' from the Garden

First Pickin' from the Garden

Yea! Our garden produced our first pickins’. I’m so excited! Now…I just gotta figure out when to pick the stuff. I went to eHow.com and found some good info on the best time to harvest our veggies. Our zucchini measured 10 inches long. I think I waited too long to pick the snow peas though….I don’t think the peas, inside the pod, are supposed to be as plump as they were when I picked them. I only picked a couple of the Edemame because I need to read some more info on when they are supposed to be harvested.

Now, I’m onto finding recipes for organic pesticides. Wish me luck!

Am I feeling convicted?

I had a wonderful time with some of my Bible Study gals today. We talked about things going on in our lives (the good and the bad). One of the women shared how her spouse recently lost his job and they do not have much money to support themselves and their 2 children. They are basically struggling to wisely use every dollar (which is not much) they have to their name. I know this is a really bad time for people right now and a lot of good hard working people being let go from their jobs due to the economy.

And here is where I feel convicted……here I am, spending atleast $50 a month on scrapping/craft supplies. I just spent almost $100 just to get my hair done because I wanted to cover up my gray’s and have the dead ends trimmed. I just bought the kids some clothes they really did not need. Heck, I can barely close their two T-shirt drawers because they are so full. How much of that money could have helped out a family who is really in need. Do I really need those things I bought? Nope. Can I go without them and not really notice they are not there? Yup. Man….my heart really got slammed today as I was listening to a friend ask  for prayers to help their situation.

I really do realize how fortunate we are. I really, really do. I try not to take it for granite. Am I spoiled brat? I don’t think so….other’s may not agree. I’m a stay at home mom who pretty much (within reason) gets whatever she wants. Now…keep in mind, I don’t go spending like there is no tomorrow. I buy my clothes at Old Navy and Target. I don’t go shopping at Nordstroms or Saks.  I use coupons when I shop for groceries and I always try to buy just the stuff on sale and the stuff I have coupons for. I recycle, I clip box tops and donate them to a local school (even though my kids aren’t in the public school system yet), etc.

Sorry if some of this just sounds like…blah, blah, blah. I’m tired and my brain is running a bit slow this evening. It’s funny how God sends little messages to ya when you are not even ready or looking for them. My question to myself  is this: What can I do to help out this friend without her knowing who it’s coming from? Reason is…I don’t want her to feel awkward or uneasy around me because of the help. Ya know? I’m gonna pray on it.  There are more things I want to say but my brain is just not able to form the right words right now.

If you get a chance, can you send a prayer her way that they overcome this terrible financial situation they are in and they are able to make it through.

Thnx! Love ya!

The Garden is in!

Ok….Yea..its been a while since I’ve updated the blog. Sorry. It’s amazing how fast time goes. Quick update: Conner’s out for the summer as of next Tuesday, Cody and Conner recently had a dentist appointment: No Cavaties for either one (this was Cody’s First trip to the Dentist and he did GREAT!), we just got back (last Sunday) from a 7 day cruise to Canada (with the boys too) and had a great time, I finished our Garden about 2 weeks ago and we (I should say, “I”) are very excited. We have so many things we want to do this summer…especially visit family in Santa Barbara. We miss you guys!

Anyhow, just wanted to show ya a photo of the garden. I planted mostly already established plants and a few seeds. I wanted to give the boys and idea of what actually can grow from seeds. We have planted Watermelon, Honeydew Melon, Strawberries, Edemame, Sugar Snap Peas, Zucchini, Chives, Basil, Dill, Cilantro, Lettuce. The boys planted a couple of pumpkin seeds in a different part of the yard too. I still need to get some Bell Peppers in there somewhere. See ya!008006 (2)007 (2)
