“The Bumpy Tree”

We are spending the weekend at our boat in Chula Vista. The weather here is amazing. It’s much nicer here than spending the weekend at home where its in the 100′s. There is a park next to the marinated where the boys like to play. There are a few large trees the boys like to climb. One of them being the “Bumpy Tree.” Playing at this park is one of the boys favorite things to do when we are down here.

Welcome to 2010!

Posted by vhughes on February 24, 2010

OK…..sooo…..I’m a few months late. I think my last post was sometime last year. Things just seem to creep up and take up so much time. I can’t really say what we have been doing. Just “stuff” I guess.  The boys are having a blast at preschool. I just finished filling out paperwork for Conner’s Kindergarten registration. I can’t believe he is going to be starting Kindergarten after this summer. That went by fast. Cody has one more year of PreK then he is off to Kindergarten too.

Our winter has been a good one. I just wish I could guess what the weather is going to be like. One week it’s cold and stormy and the next week it’s in the 80′s.  That must explain why my kids keep getting sick. We have had a couple of weekends scheduled to go play in the snow, at the cabin, but were locked to our household with sick kids. The boys are getting to be so big. They are getting taller and it seems like their feet are growing like weeds.

Chuck has been extremely busy with work. He is now helping out the Mock Trial team at King HS, as well as Teaching a Law School Class at night during the week. All this, on top of his “real” job. Poor guy is soooo tired. But, he enjoys it.

I’ve just been busy taking care of the boys and doing a little bit of scrappin’ when I can. Plus taking care of the household. I don’t see how I did it when I was working full time. I guess that would be my “before kids” stage when things were a little less busy. :0)

I have to share something totally funny Cody said the other day, amongst many other Hilarious things he says,……..we were at the Dinner table and Chuck was trying to get him to eat a piece of tomatoe. Cody kept saying he did not want to then he gave in. Once the tomatoe was in his mouth, you would have think we put a bug in his mouth. He had the most disgusting look on his face. Then he says,
It tastes like it has not showered in 2 months.” What???? Where did that come from? He is too funny!

Right now the boys are playing Lincoln Logs with Chuck. The boys love spending time with Chuck and he loves it too. It’s so nice and comforting to watch the boys have so much fun with their Dad.

We are scheduled to go to the cabin soon, so maybe I can post some new photos of our family in the snow. Until next time (hopefully before another few months go by…) I wish you nothing but Happiness!

Disneyland

Posted by vhughes on October 5, 2009

We decided, at the last minute, to take a trip to Disneyland. It was pretty crowded but all in all, we had a really good time and the boys were pretty well behaved. It’s amazing how much their demeanor plays into the outcome of our day. We re-newed our Disney passes…..so, if anyone wants to go, let us know!

I’ve been pretty busy doing my Stampin’ Up stuff. I have 2 classes scheduled for October. I have so much fun with this stuff. It’s also a nice outlet for me and it allows me time to spend “with me.” Chuck put up my Peg Board and it looks great. I’ve hung my sticker packets on it. I had no idea how many I had. Scary! For those of you who don’t know, I also have a blog dedicated to my papercrafting hobby. If you ever want to visit it, here is the link: http://stampinness.blogspot.com/

The boys are both in Preschool and they are having a great time. Cody was a little hesitant at first but he is slowly going along with the program. I always ask them what they did at school and the common response is…..”nothing, we just played.” Pretty funny kids!

Candy on the Stove

Candy on the stovetop

Candy on the stovetop

This morning, Chuck made special pancakes for the boys. They were shapped like Mickey Mouse and he used whip cream and chocolate chips for the decorations. The boys absolutely Loved them! What a great Dad!

We went to a friends B-day party yesterday (Andrew C. turned 3yrs old!) and the boys collected candy from the Pinata. The candy has kept the boys busy all morning. They have played Hide and Seek with the candy and they have also pretended to cook the candy on their pretend stove top. A photo is attached. Funny kids with a great imagination.

We all had a great summer in 2009. The boys start preschool tomorrow and we are all very excited. We went to an open house last week and got to meet their new teachers. The boys are going to have so much fun. Cody is very excited and you can tell he is starting to feel like a “Big Boy” now.

Pretty Nice Savings

Posted by vhughes on September 14, 2009

Hey…….yea…it’s been a while since I’ve posted anything to the blog. It’s been a very busy and enjoyable summer. I will add more entries later but for now…..just wanted to let you know what kind of savings are out there for you. My dear friend, Christy, turned me on to this blog that gives you great ideas on how to save money by using coupons, rebates, etc.

I went to Rite-Aid and Walgreens and spent $29.09 and got lots of stuff. The money spent, includes the $16 rebate I will be getting from Rite-Aid. I bought lots of Johnson and Johnson Baby products, since I am attending a baby shower in the near future.  Rite-Aid also had their kids summer toys at 75% off. Since we have a few kids B-day parties this month, I figured the items would come in handy. There is a package of Keebler cookies missing (We already dug into those). I’ve attached a photo off all the stuff I bought. Christy, Thank You for turning me onto the site (http://hip2save.blogspot.com/). According to my receipts, the money I saved (including the rebate) was $65.61.

The New Boat is Here!

Posted by vhughes on July 9, 2009

We are all so excited! We spent 4 days on the boat (1968 Columbia 36′), after Chuck, my Dad and Chuck’s friend (Jerry) sailed it from Marina Del Rey to Chula Vista (San Diego Co.). The Marina was awesome. They had activities every day we were there. Saturday we hung out and enjoyed free Hot Dogs, Popcorn, Slushies and the kids played on the large obstacle course bouncy. They had a kid craft every day and we hung out by the pool. There was also a small Gym at the Marina (which we have not used yet but I’m sure we will). We also got to hang out with my parents, who also have a boat on the same Gangway. Too  cool! My parents were so sweet. They took the boys for a few hours on Saturday so Chuck and I could relax. We took the new sailboat out for a couple of hours on one of the days and the boys really enjoyed it. We are looking forward to many more relaxing and fun days at the boat.
